Golden Gate Canyon State Park Master Plan

  • Colorado State Parks

  • Golden Gate Canyon State Park, CO

  • 30 acres

  • 2007

Project Highlights

Golden Gate Canyon State Park was programmed for use as a retreat, the project included cabin type housing with a separate common area with gathering space, restrooms, and a kitchen to accommodate retreat activities.

Ford Architects incorporated the “snug cabin” concept: cabins are coupled with the ground to reduce the requirement for heat when not in use.

The project utilizes super-insulated panels along with photovoltaic, high-performance glazing and insulated shutters to achieve zero net energy. Durable materials reduce maintenance costs.
